Internationally acclaimed pianist Paul Lewis returns to the FCM stage to open FCM’s Piano Series, launching his US tour in Denver with his thoughtfully curated program “Mozart+.” Renowned for his masterful interpretations of the Central European repertoire, Lewis pairs Mozart’s lesser-known piano works with music by Debussy and Poulenc, illuminating Mozart’s far-reaching influence and giving fresh attention to pieces often overshadowed by his concertos. From the lyricism of the Sonata in C Major (K. 330) and the drama of the Sonata in C Minor (K. 457) to the wit and charm of Poulenc’s Improvisations, Lewis’s program is a vivid showcase of both virtuosic brilliance and deep musical insight.
