Declared “a dream group” by The New York Times, Owls is a fresh and original new string quartet collective featuring some of chamber music’s most creative voices, including violinist Alexi Kenney, violist Ayane Kozasa, and cellists Gabriel Cabezas and Paul Wiancko. This concert will be presented at the Lakewood Cultural Center as part of our “Friends in New Places” offerings . . . world-class artists in two new venues, with reserved seating and free parking. We look forward to making new friends in the community!
Their program spans music from the 1600s to today, weaving together new compositions with collaborative arrangements to create performances that feel fresh, spontaneous, and uniquely their own.The concert features the world premiere of Three Tunes by Boulder composer Annika Socolofsky, a work that explores what it feels like to be inside a fiddle tune. Additional selections include music by François Couperin, Paul Wiancko, Trollstilt, and Terry Riley.
