Join us downtown for this special performance at Dazzle Denver!
Hailed by The Strad for playing with “tremendous heart and beauty,” the Ivalas Quartet has been changing the face of classical music since its inception in 2017. Dedicated to the celebration of diverse voices, Ivalas seeks to enhance the classical music world by consistently spotlighting composers of the past and present such as Jessie Montgomery, Daniel Bernard Roumain, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and Eleanor Alberga.
The Ivalas Quartet was a Denver area favorite during their residence at the University of Colorado-Boulder under the mentorship of the Takács Quartet. After recently serving as the Graduate Resident String Quartet at The Juilliard School, they are now on a fall tour. Friends of Chamber Music is thrilled to welcome them back to Denver!
The quartet’s program is entitled “Perspectives,” exploring how the personal experiences of composers from diverse backgrounds have influenced their expression. The program includes:
Carlos Simon: Warmth from Other Suns
Derrick Skye: Deliverance
Eleanor Alberga: String Quartet No. 2
Jessie Montgomery: Strum
