Did you know Friends of Chamber Music has archives dating back to our very first season?
At our May concert, longtime patrons Lela Lee and Norman Wikner thanked us for bringing them back online. A frequent user of the old archive, Lela had missed it during our website upgrade—and was delighted to find the improved version back in place.
“I use the archives to revisit special moments,” she said. “When I saw Paul Lewis on this season’s schedule, I remembered how powerful his last performance was. I looked it up—January 9, 2013—and got to relive it a little.”
A recent performance by the Miró Quartet sparked another memory when the quartet performed the 3rd movement of Beethoven’s Quartet No. 15 in A Minor, Op. 132. Lela recalled hearing a particularly meaningful performance of the complete Quartet No. 15, but couldn’t remember the ensemble. A quick archive search revealed it was the Isidore Quartet, on November 28, 2023.
As the Wikners travel, they sometimes hear performers and wonder if they’ve played for FCM before they were subscribers. Again, another quick archive search provides the answer. “If I had a perfect memory,” Lela joked, “I wouldn’t need the archives. I appreciate all the work that went into resurrecting this resource.”
