DESCRIPTION:Making his FCM debut\, Awadagin Pratt gained international recognition after winning the renowned Naumburg International Piano Competition in 1992 and being awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant.  He is hailed as “one of the great and distinctive American pianists and conductors of our time” (WGBH).  Pratt’s wide-ranging program includes Fred Hersch’s Nocturne for Left Hand Alone and Pēteris Vasks’s Castillo Interior\, as well as works from Couperin\, Rachmaninoff\, and Chopin. \n“..forceful\, imaginative\, and precisely tinted” performances.  — The Washington Post \nExplore the concert program here. SUMMARY:Music in the Galleries:  Gwenyth Aggeler\, classical guitar
DESCRIPTION:Gwenyth Aggeler is a classical guitarist whose performances have been described by the Cultural Voice of North Carolina as “full of energy” and “striking.” She is a laureate of several national and international competitions including the Peter Segal First Prize in the 2023 Philadelphia Classical Guitar Competition\, first prize in the University of Louisville Guitar Competition\, and first prize in the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix Guitar Competition. Gwenyth performed on NPR’s radio program From the Top in 2019 and was later featured in their livestream series.   Gwenyth is passionate about collaborating with composers to premiere new works for her instrument and has performed in two world premieres of works commissioned by the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society. \nGwenyth began playing guitar through an extracurricular program at her elementary school. At the age of 17 she received the CAPE Foundation Endowed Scholarship to study with Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. \n  \n\nThis event will include two identical concerts at noon and 1 p.m.   Performances are included with museum admission.  For tickets purchased online\, FCM patrons receive $2 off adult and senior tickets with code MUSIC.  Visit www.clyffordstillmuseum.org for tickets. \nSeating is limited and first come\, first served.
