SUMMARY:Calidore Quartet and Sharon Isbin\, guitar
DESCRIPTION:Since its founding in 2010\, the Calidore Quartet has risen to prominence as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of an expansive chamber music repertoire\, from Beethoven and Mendelssohn to today’s most celebrated composers. In this special collaboration\, multiple GRAMMY Award-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin joins the ensemble for a unique evening featuring works by Dvořák\, Haydn\, Vivaldi\, and Boccherini. \nThe Calidore Quartet has “…deep reserves of virtuosity and irrepressible dramatic instinct.”  —The New York Times \nPRE-CONCERT TALK:  Join us in Gates Concert Hall at 6:30 PM for a pre-concert conversation with guitarist Sharon Isbin and violist Jeremy Berry\, led by classical radio host Chris Mohr.  An avid composer\, Chris wrote a Mass at the age of 12\, followed by an oratorio by age 16\, and then embarked on a major music drama\, From the Realm of the Shadow\, recorded with the National Symphony Orchestra and Choir of Ukraine.  He has been a classical radio announcer since 1978\, hosting shows on KCFR\, KVOD\, KGNU Boulder/Denver\, and Aspen Public Radio while finding time to hike over 1\,000 mountains. \nClick here for the complete concert program\, perfect for reviewing in advance of the concert. \nThink Classical Music is Always the Same? Think Again\nFrom Sharon Isbin:  “Every performance is different.  I’m totally immersed in the music myself\, and if the audience gets into the music too\, they become part of the performance. I love the energy in Denver\, and playing with the texture of four bowed instruments is a whole new world for me. I can’t wait for the Fandango we play at the end. Boccherini had a very sensuous side\, and the audience goes bananas!” \nCLICK HERE  to read more from Sharon Isbin and Calidore violinist Ryan Meehan in this preview article by freelance journalist Kim Millett. \n  \nLIVESTREAM UPDATE: Due to artist requirements\, this concert will not be streamed live.  A recorded version will be available to watch starting Saturday\, October 18. \nThank you to the Colorado Sun for supporting this event. \n \n  \n
