SUMMARY:Rocky Mountain Premiere of "The Bowmakers"
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Chamber Music is thrilled to present an exclusive event for our audience and community. We are hosting the Rocky Mountain Premiere of a fascinating and beautiful new film\, The Bowmakers\, beginning on Thanksgiving Day and now extended through December 31. \nThe Bowmakers\, featuring Brooklyn Rider as well as the Miró and Dover quartets\, explores the world of the bow and the extraordinary masters who make them.  It is a treat for anyone who loves classical music\, is a musician or has musicians in the family. \nThe film follows the journey of the “silent servant” of the music world—from the workshops of the virtuosos of the trade\, to the birthplace of the bow in France\, and to Brazil\, home to the imperiled tree from which the world’s finest bows are made. \nA special thanks to our sponsors: \nPatsy & Jim Aronstein\nAlix & John Corboy\nEllen Roy Elias & Anthony D. Elias \nTICKETS\nNOTE: You will only be able to watch the film from the device and browser you purchase it on (unless you plan to cast it to your Smart TV).  For example\, if you’ll be watching it on your computer\, you must buy the streaming ticket on your computer.  Most people have found watching on a laptop/desktop is better than viewing on an IPad or phone. \nLive Q & A with Filmmaker and Stars of Film\nIf you missed the live Q & A with Director Ward Serrill\, Bowmaker Robert Morrow\, and Violist Nicholas Cords of Brooklyn Rider\, you can watch the recorded version here. \nWatch Now\n

SUMMARY:Ensemble Faucheux - Free Virtual Performance
DESCRIPTION:This special performance was recorded for FCM audiences at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. Program is available to stream for free through October 31.\n  \n\n“We chose this program in part because this is some of our favorite music to be immersed in.  What an extraordinary time.  We rehearsed masked and distanced in a garage with the door open to the alley where people would occasionally wander or drive by and interact with us in support or surprise.  We even had neighbors write notes of encouragement and thanks.  It was a great reminder of the power of music to lift us out of our every day and remind us of our shared human experience.” \n– Catherine Beeson\, violist \n\nPROGRAM NOTES\n  \nView Performance Now

SUMMARY:Hub New Music: Free Virtual Performance
DESCRIPTION:Last season\, Friends of Chamber Music had planned to bring Hub New Music\, a Boston-based quartet of violin\, flute\, clarinet and cello to Denver for a community program.  While a live performance was not possible\, FCM is pleased to collaborate with Hub New Music on this virtual concert\, featuring the premiere of Christopher Cerrone’s New Addresses\, co-commissioned by Hub New Music\, Friends of Chamber Music\, and Ashmont Hill Chamber Music. This wonderful contemporary program also includes Takuma Itoh’s Wavelengths. \n \n  \n  \n  \nHub New Music: \nCalled “contemporary chamber trailblazers” by the Boston Globe\, Hub New Music – composed of flute\, clarinet\, violin\, and cello – is forging new pathways in 21st-century repertoire. The ensemble’s ambitious commissioning projects and “appealing programs” (New Yorker) celebrate the rich diversity of today’s classical music landscape. Its performances have been described as “gobsmacking” (Cleveland Classical)\, “innovative” (WBUR)\, and “the cutting edge of new classical music” (Taos News). \nClick here for program notes.
