SUMMARY:Danish String Quartet
DESCRIPTION:One of the world’s most renowned string quartets\, performing to sold-out concert halls around the world\, the Danish String Quartet returns for a third time to the Chamber Series. Musical America’s 2020 Ensemble of the Year\, the quartet will perform works by Mozart and Shostakovich as well as folk music from around the world. \nOn October 8\, the Danish String Quartet was awarded the $150\,000 Léonie Sonning Music Prize. The quartet is the first ensemble to ever win the accolade\, which is usually awarded to individual artists. DESCRIPTION:Formed in 1995\, the Miró Quartet was awarded first prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Naumburg Chamber Music Competition. Each week\, Food for Thought mobilizes hundreds of volunteers to pack and deliver “PowerSacks”—bags of weekend food—for students and their families.
