DESCRIPTION:A discussion with composer Jerod Impichchaachaahá Tate \n“Tate’s connection to nature and the human experience was quite apparent in this piece.  Rarer still is his ability to effectively infuse classical music with American Indian nationalism.”  – The Washington Post \nEmmy award-winning composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate is dedicated to the development of American Indian classical composition.  A citizen of the Chickasaw Nation\, Tate will talk about his path as a classical composer\, including his work with ensembles and organizations around the country\, channeling American Indian culture and legend through his new classical compositions. Join FCM and Mr. Tate for the Dover Quartet’s Rocky Mountain premiere of his newest work\, Abokkoli’ Taloowa’ (Woodland Songs).  Sunday\, November 17\, 4 PM at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts.  Click here for tickets and more information. \nJerod Tate is a 2022 Chickasaw Hall of Fame inductee and a 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient from The Cleveland Institute of Music. In 2021\, he was appointed a Cultural Ambassador for the U.S. Department of State.  He is an Emmy Award-winner for his work on the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority documentary The Science of Composing.
